Learn About London Bridge Resort's Rich History
The world-famous London Bridge on Lake Havasu, which is the resort’s namesake, is a unique and popular attraction. Purchased in 1968 by Robert P. McCulloch, the city’s founder, London Bridge was shipped from England 10,000 miles away to Lake Havasu City and reconstructed. The bridge spans the man-made Bridgewater Channel that connects the island to Lake Havasu City. Nestled beneath the bridge is a quaint English village with tree-lined specialty shopping, boat tours and eateries.
The London Bridge Resort is also home to the world’s only replica of England’s legendary Gold Stage Coach, where it rests regally in the lobby of the hotel. Built in 1762, the 24-foot-long gilded carriage has carried every British Monarch since King George III to their coronation at Westminster Abbey.
Lake Havasu City, "America's Home for the London Bridge", is the recreation mecca of the Southwest. Blessed by an ideal climate, captivating scenery, rugged mountains, tranquil desert and the azure waters of the Colorado River, Lake Havasu City and its 45-mile long lake is a nautical oasis of natural beauty in an Old West atmosphere.
